Local Amenities

The Studio is ideally located for visits to some of the finest sights in Southern England. These include; within 30 miles to the East, Avesbury Rings, Marlborough, and the many antique shops of Hungerford and on the way there taking in Kennet Long Barrow, Sidbury Hill and Devizes.

In the opposite direction there is the picturesque 16th Century village of Lacock, with it’s Priory, where the first ever photograph was taken. Lacock has been the setting for many films, including ‘Pride and Prejudice’ and ‘Sense and Sensibility’. Another 12 miles to the West is the world famous Roman and Georgian city of Bath, on the way there you will pass Bradford-on-Avon and the spectacular Avon Valley.

To the South there is even more to see at the World Heritage site of Stonehenge and it’s neighbour Woodhedge. Moving on to Salisbury, the splendors of its 13th Century cathedral and The Close, should not be missed.

Closer to home there are many lovely walks including one to look down on the famous Wiltshire ‘White Horse’, sitting close to where King Alfred defeated the Danes and preserved the Kingdom of Wessex.

The local pub, The Longs Arms is situated on the High Street within easy walking distance of The Studio, and provides an excellent food service from light bites, indulging three-course dinners, to a traditional, hearty Sunday Lunch.

The Long Arms is open 7 days a week, opening hours 11-00 am till 11-00 pm,
no food served on Sunday evenings after 6pm.
